Everyone has their place. A place where they get their favorite dim sum, submarine, burger or pho. And although we all stray from time we have our places which we always come back to. And of course I am no different.
When it comes to specific dishes, such as tacos burritos and Mexican food in general, there is both a spoken and unspoken level of standard that must be met. For instance here in the city, if you desire authenticity and great tasting Mexican food you go to the Mission. Hands down anything outside of the Mission district will be judged with a high level of scrutiny and bias. Held to a greater expectation, if you will. About three miles away, nestled on Chestnut street, there is a Mexican Taqueria, I'd like to pay homage to, one I think deserves to be acknowledged as such.
Los Hermanos has been in the neighborhood for as long as I can remember. It's family owned and they've watched me grow up, and vice verda I am a witness to their growth and permanancy. I grew up around this place. It's a small place with a few tables, a moderate menu of authentic small dishes.
fresh ingredients flavorful dishes, and warm service is consistent. The Guacamole is fresh, tasty, and textured as if it has been slightly whipped. The salsa is bright and refreshing. With any burrito you experience flavor on top of flavor. I usually choose carne asada or a combination of carne asada and camerones. Each component is seasoned. The rice is seasoned, the carne is seasoned, the beans are seasoned. The shrimp is seasoned. The burrito is juicy and robust, and absolutely delicious. Most of all, the people are always kind and the food is on point every time. They are the Mission of the Marina. Uncompromising authentic Mexican food. They remind me of family. They remind me of home.
